Infinexy: a startup’s base product, built right.
Infinexy sells software that makes automotive workshops more productive. They came with an idea: every manufacturer publishes a standard repair time, but every workshop wants to beat it. We scoped it honestly first — “they weren’t trying to sell us something we didn’t need” — then built the base product: a web-based technician tracking and timing platform on AWS, with dual time targets and built-in chat so technicians never leave the workstation. Now piloting with automotive customers.
A workshop-productivity idea with no platform, no technical team, and a founder "naïve to software."
Scope-first breakdown → web-based tracking + timing platform on AWS · dual time targets · built-in technician/manager chat.
Two customer pilots live · UI "intuitive and easy to use" · 5.0 verified · "I've already recommended them."
What was actually happening.
In workshops, the manufacturer’s standard repair time is the ceiling — the business case lives in beating it. But there was no tool tracking standard time against the workshop’s target time, and every question a technician asked meant leaving the workstation. Infinexy had the insight; what it needed was a partner who would scope honestly and build the base product a startup could sell.
Where it hurt most.
- 1No standard-vs-target trackingThe whole productivity case — beating book time — had no system measuring it.
- 2Technicians leaving the bayEvery question meant walking off the workstation — efficiency leaking by the minute.
- 3Startup without a build teamA founder "naïve to software" needed honest scoping, not a sales pitch.
- 4Cost vs. growth tradeoffInfrastructure had to stay cheap now and scale later.
The work, in motion.
Exploratory conversations and drawings first, then a written scope of work with a detailed breakdown of how the software would function — expectations listed before a line of code. “They weren’t trying to sell us something we didn’t need.” Then the build, and a relationship that moved from delivery into growth strategy.
- Web-based technician tracking + timing platform — manufacturer standard time and workshop target time, both visible, both measured
- Built-in chat between technician and workshop manager — questions answered without leaving the workstation
- AWS foundation balancing cost with room for growth · sold per-customer (not SaaS) by design · ongoing growth strategy with our leadership
Measured, not promised.
Their own sales manager guessed the build cost double what it did.
“The UI is something that Bryan and his team did very well on. The software is intuitive and easy to use. Incipient goes above and beyond, and they are very professional — very adaptable, which was a good pairing with our being a startup.”
Web application on AWS, sized to balance startup economics against growth headroom. Deliberately not SaaS — licensed per customer to match Infinexy's go-to-market. Same client later brought us their consultancy's data-platform build (see JLG) — the repeat-client signal that matters most.
