Stickbulb: 30% of a director’s week,
returned.

Stickbulb designs and manufactures luxury lighting fixtures in Long Island City — products where a single fixture can come in thousands of variants. Inventory was managed by hand, costs lived nowhere, and the legacy software was too bulky to fix. We implemented Odoo to catalog every variant and cost, shipping staged improvements weekly — and gave the production director enough time back to take on a second role.

The Challenge

Manual inventory, uncatalogued costs, and fixtures with thousands of variants the legacy software couldn't model.

In the Production Director’s words: “Before this project, I managed our inventory manually.” Costs had no catalog. And the product line itself was the hard part — “a lighting fixture can come in multiple thousands of variants” — complexity the previous software, “bulky and large,” was never going to model.

  • 1Manual inventoryThe production director personally managed inventory by hand — daily, error-prone, unscalable.
  • 2Thousands of variantsA single fixture in thousands of configurations — unmodelable in the legacy system.
  • 3No cost catalogCosts lived nowhere — pricing and margin decisions ran on memory.
  • 4Bulky legacy software"Bulky and large" — too heavy to fix, too embedded to ignore.
What We Did

From hand-counted inventory to a catalog that holds every variant and every cost.

Discovery across multiple working sessions to map the product line’s real complexity, then implementation in staged weekly releases — “a new development to review almost every week… excellent at staging things so we can test them out and implement them once they’re good to go.” Five people on the engagement, two primary contacts, check-ins that never missed.

  • Odoo ERP implementation — inventory management + complete cost catalog across the product line
  • Variant modeling for fixtures with thousands of configurations — the complexity the legacy system couldn't hold
  • Staged weekly release cadence — every development tested by the client before implementation · ongoing maintenance + improvement check-ins since

Under the hood. Built on: Odoo, Inventory + costing, Variant modeling, Staged weekly releases. Legacy software retired in favor of a single Odoo environment sized to an 11-50 person manufacturer. Variant-heavy product line modeled natively; every release staged in test, client-verified, then promoted — a cadence that continues through the maintenance term today.

The Outcome

“They never deliver past a deadline. Honestly, we’re the ones slowing things down — Incipient Corp. is very efficient. Everything has worked out great.”
